I'm relatively new to the whole Facebook thing. I won't lie. I signed up for it back in June and didn't really use it much until about the time school started up again in late August or September.
In other words, I started using it just about the time that they changed from the old format to the new format.
And people have been gritchin' about it ever since.
Now, I don't really get it. I don't even remember much of what the old Facebook was like, so I don't have anything to miss. It's been like three or four months; I'm just not missing it.
However, people are still all up-ons about it. This December 15th, it seems as though they're having a big 'protest' against the new version, where everyone who doesn't like it is supposed to not log in. Like it's going to do something to change it.
Think about it - even if their goal of 1.000.000 people don't log in, there are tens of millions of others like myself who don't give a hoot nor a holler about the old or new format. Frankly, from what I do remember of the old Facebook style, I like the new better - the wall is bigger and more prominent and doesn't get buried under piles and piles of pointless stuff. The layout is easier to navigate. The annoying stuff is either on the sidebar or buried away on a secondary page.
Frankly, I hope the little protest fails. It's often the case that the (small) minority is extremely vocal and makes it appear that everyone hates something, when it couldn't be farther from the truth. When most of the daily Facebook users log in on the 15th without a second thought, it'll be the epitaph (hopefully) to the whining about the new format.
But if they change back, does that mean that the people who preferred the new version (not that I'd care enough to do this) get to protest and have 'blackout days' to get the new layout back?
